ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has approved the deployment of the army and civil armed forces across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, to ensure security during Muharram.
The decision was made after requests from all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The deployment is authorized under Article 245 of the Constitution and the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The exact number of troops and their areas of deployment will be decided by local governments in consultation with security officials.
The army will assist local law enforcement to maintain peace and prevent any potential threats during Muharram.
The duration of the deployment will be reviewed later based on the security situation.
