KP Governor honored Swat rescuers with Umrah trip

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday honored two local heroes (rescuers), Muhammad Hilal Khan and Asmat Ali, for their courageous rescue of stranded tourists in Swat using a makeshift boat.

The governor praised their bravery and humanitarian spirit, presenting them with honorary shields. He announced that they would be sent for Umrah at his personal expense and recommended for a national civil award in recognition of their heroic act.

“These young men risked their lives to save others, showing remarkable courage,” Kundi said.

He also directed the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to enhance emergency response in Swat by attaching boats to ambulances for faster flood rescues. The move aims to improve disaster preparedness in the flood-prone region.
