PESHAWAR: Two traffic police officers were martyred in Lakki Marwat on Monday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Gulbaz Haqan area on Tuesday morning.

According to initial reports, the assailants fled the scene following the attack, and a search operation has been launched to track them down. The motive behind the attack is not yet known, and investigations are underway.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has strongly condemned the incident and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. In a statement issued by his office, the Chief Minister sought an immediate report from the relevant authorities and instructed law enforcement agencies to take swift action to arrest those responsible.

“This is a tragic loss for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the martyrs laid down their lives in the line of duty, and we salute their bravery,” said Chief Minister Gandapur. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the slain officers and offered prayers for the elevation of their ranks in the hereafter.

“The provincial government stands with the bereaved families in this difficult time. They will not be left alone—we will ensure all possible support is provided to them,” the Chief Minister assured.

He further emphasised that the safety of police personnel is a top priority and vowed that the perpetrators of this heinous act would be brought to justice without delay.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Feisal Karim Kundi also condemned the cowardly attack and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over the security of law enforcement officials in the province, particularly in sensitive districts like Lakki Marwat. The provincial administration has pledged to enhance security measures to prevent such attacks in the future.

It is to mentioning here that it was not a single incident, as earlier to this two persons, including a member of the peace committee, were also killed in the Tarkanan area of Lakki Marwat on Saturday.
