The funeral prayers for Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, who was martyred in the Bajaur blast, were held in Odigram. The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister Dr. Amjad Ali, Commissioner Malakand Abid Wazir, the Deputy Commissioner of Swat, and various military and civil officials. A large number of local elders also participated in the funeral.
Martyr Faisal Ismail hailed from the Odigram area of Swat. He earned an engineering degree from Namal University in Islamabad. His father is a retired principal, and his elder brother holds the rank of Colonel in the Pakistan Army.
Including an assistant commissioner, a tehsildar, five persons were martyred and 17 were injured in an explosion in the Nawagai area of Bajaur.
At least four persons were killed and 11 others, including the Assistant Commissioner, were injured when an improvised explosive device exploded in the Saddiq Abad area of Bajaur on Wednesday.
Local sources said that the incident occurred in Pataka Mela area near Sadiq Abad when the police and AC patrolling party were on routine visit in locality. The blast caused fear and panic among the residents, and a large number of people rushed to the site to retrieve the bodies from the damaged vehicle. The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Bajaur, where emergency measures have been imposed. Those who were martyred tragic incident identified Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismael and Tehsildar Wakeel Khan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ihtisham Ali strongly condemned the incident and vowed to arrest the responsible elements who are playing with the lives of innocent people. He directed the Hospital authorities to provide the best possible treatment to injured persons.
Meanwhile Member of the Provincial Assembly from Bajaur, Nisar Baz Khan, has expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the tragic incident in Nawagai, Bajaur, where Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Wakeel Khan, Inspector Noor Hukum, and a passerby were martyred.In his statement, Nisar Baz Khan said, “This attack is not just on state officials but on the peace of the entire region. We extend heartfelt sympathy to the families of the martyrs and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Nisar Baz Khan revealed that clashes between security forces and terrorists had also occurred in Bajaur last night, clearly indicating that the law and order situation in the area has deteriorated to a critical level.
