The backlog has persisted in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)’s anti-terrorism courts as revealed by the statistics on Friday.
As of the latest updates, 260 cases are pending in the ten anti-terrorism courts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The highest number of pending cases is in the Peshawar Anti-Terrorism Court, with 158 cases, followed by 40 cases in the Hazara Division’s court and 25 cases in DI Khan.
Additionally, 19 cases are pending in the Anti-Terrorism Court of Lower Dir, and 6 cases in both Bannu and Swat. Buner has 2 pending cases, while the Batkhela Anti-Terrorism Court has 4.
In June, the province’s anti-terrorism courts resolved 73 cases. Legal experts suggest that the main reason for the delays in these cases is the sluggish pace of investigations.
