India has begun imposing restrictions on international media, following its earlier blockade of Pakistani content. The Indian government has blocked the official account of the world-renowned news agency Reuters on the social media platform X.
According to Newsbytes, this decision was implemented late last night. After the blockage, several users in India attempting to access Reuters received a message indicating that the account had been blocked due to a legal demand. This action is part of a broader trend of control and censorship regarding social media and online platforms initiated by the Indian government.
According to the Indian magazine Deccan Chronicle, the authorities have not yet provided an official reason for this move, raising concerns about transparency. Political observers suggest that the BJP government, led by Narendra Modi, is operating in an undeclared state of emergency, implementing strict measures to suppress dissent. Experts argue that this censorship extends beyond domestic media and is now targeting international news outlets as well.
