KP appoints 27 assembly members as parliamentary secretaries

KP assembly session set for July 21; reserved seats oaths on agenda

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has appointed 27 members of the provincial assembly as parliamentary secretaries in various portfolios to make governance effective, provide assistance in ministerial affairs and promptly resolve public issues.
An official notification was issued in this regard by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
According to the notification issued, Ali Shah Housing, Akhtar Ali Law, Hameed-ur-Rehman Mineral, and Sultan Rum have been appointed parliamentary secretaries of the Auqaf Department, Muhammad Naeem Agriculture, Gul Ibrahim Tourism, Muhammad Azam Excise and Shafiullah will be parliamentary secretaries of Anti-Corruption, Obaid-ur-Rehman Health, Ajmal Khan Sports, Abdul Qadeer Khan Higher Education and Fazal Haq have been appointed parliamentary secretaries of Prisons.
In addition, Muhammad Riaz has been appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary of Revenue, Rajab Ali of Social Welfare, Iftikhar Jadoon of Food Department and Murtaza Turki of Finance Department, while Amir Farzand of Irrigation, Arshad Ali Omarzai of Transport, Mehboob Sher of C&W and Abdul Ghani of Population Welfare will be the Parliamentary Secretaries.
Mian Umar Kakakhel of Public Health, Ashfaq Ahmed of Municipalities, Shafiullah Jan of IT, and Muhammad Usman of RRS have been appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries, while Asif Khan of the Administration Department, Ajab Gul of the Education Department and Adeel Iqbal will be the Parliamentary Secretaries.
Government sources say that the Parliamentary Secretaries will work with the ministers to assist in legislation, policy implementation and resolution of public grievances in their departments, while they will also play a role in preparing answers to questions in the Assembly and defending the government’s position. However, it is said that due to differences in the PTI, all the members of the assembly were awarded.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet currently consists of 15 ministers, 5 advisors and 12 special assistants. After appointing 27 more members as parliamentary secretaries, a few MPAs have been left without positions.
