NDMA warns of heavy rain, wind, and storms across the country

Above-average rainfall predicted for Pakistan's 2025 monsoon season

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert for rain, wind, storm and glacier eruption in different parts of the country during the next 12 hours.
The NDMA said in the alert that the risk of flooding in glacial areas has increased due to the continuous rise in temperature and possible rains in the northern areas of Pakistan, so residents near the rivers of Hunza, Shigar, Ganchhe and Chitral should be careful.
The NDMA has issued instructions to PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, GBDMA and DDMA to monitor sensitive areas.
The announcement said that heavy rains in different parts of the country are likely to cause urban flooding, landslides, power outages and affect traffic flow on roads. Stay away from weak structures, mud walls, electricity poles and billboards during rain and strong winds.
Citizens have been asked to be cautious and ensure the timely availability of emergency machinery and equipment in sensitive areas due to the rains.
The NDMA said in the alert that the public is requested to avoid going near drains, rivers, and fast-flowing waterways, and tourists should avoid going near the glacier, taking pictures or trekking.
The NDMA has issued instructions to the relevant agencies to ensure the restoration of roads in case of an emergency.
