Two drown in Batkhela Malakand Canal, bodies recovered

The bodies of two youths who drowned in the Batkhela Head Works canal have been recovered. The operation involved the Rescue 1122 Malakand diving team, Civil Defence, Al-Khidmat, and local volunteers.

The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Irshad and 14-year-old Ijaz, both residents of Upper Dir. Their bodies were transported to the  District Headquarters hospital in Batkhela in a rescue ambulance.

District Emergency Officer Nasir Khan was on-site supervising the operation.

Early Friday morning, six people were hit by a house’s roof that collapsed in the Tehsil Umarzai neighbourhood of Charsadda.

District Emergency Officer Jawad Khalil told Pakhtun Digital that the incident occurred in Mahmood Abad village, Tehsil Umarzi, district Charsadda, in the early hours of Friday. He said that the roof of the house was already in poor condition due to weather conditions and rain.

The doctors said that a medical emergency was declared in the ward, and all injured patients received first aid from the doctors. Three were among the injured as well.

He said that the ambulances of Rescue 1122 arrived on time to shift the injured persons to the DHQ Charsadda. He said that four visitors from Karachi were among the injured, along with three minors. They are stable in condition and would be discharged after getting initial medical treatment.
