PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated on Friday that the opposition holds the democratic right to bring a no-confidence motion in the provincial assembly once it secures a majority.
Addressing the media, Governor Kundi noted that 30 members of the provincial assembly are currently independent. He emphasized that ongoing meetings with political groups are underway, and the opposition can exercise its right to move a no-confidence motion “whenever they have the numbers,” adding that “no one can stop us from this democratic right.”
Kundi, referencing his long association with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, acknowledged that political alliances frequently shift. He revealed efforts are focused on securing victory in five upcoming Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On the issue of terrorism, the Governor asserted that Afghan soil is being used for terrorist activities, confirming repeated requests have been made to the Afghan government to prevent this. He stressed that collective action is essential to combat terrorism.
Kundi also commented on internal divisions within the PTI and expressed his desire for a strong opposition role in the KP Assembly. Additionally, he raised concerns about incidents of “looting” within the province.
