Peshawar High Court ruled not to use word ‘Kill’ for security forces instead use ”Martyr”

PESHAWAR: The  Peshawar High Court has ruled on a petition of a Lawyer directing  media personnel to use the word ‘Martyr’ for the personnel of security forces instead of the world ‘kill’ which is not an appropriate word.

Hamdan Advocate had filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court not to use the word “kill” for martyrs. He also requested the media to use the word “martyr” for martyrs of law enforcement agencies including the Pakistani army.

In this connection PEMRA has submitted its response to the Peshawar High Court and through  notification to the Ministry of Broadcasting and Information to use the word “martyr” instead of the word “kill”

PEMRA has prohibited all media channels, newspapers, radio and social media accounts from using the word “kill” for martyred personnel of the armed forces and other victims of bomb blasts.
