South Waziristan residents demand uplift of the area

PESHAWAR: Tribal elders of South Waziristan continued their protest for the fifth consecutive day, demanding the opening of Angoor Adda border, share in minerals and complete restoration of peace in the area.

The protester while holding banners and placards inscribed with different slogans in favour of their demands. The protest camp was attended by local leaders, social workers and businessmen of South Waiziristan.

They demanded opening of border gate near Angoor Ada for resuming trade activities. The tribal elders while addressing on the occasion said that they are peaceful Pakistanis and it is their constitutional right to have peace in their area.

They said that the people of the area depend on trade activities while government have closed all the borders ,which has disrupted their trade with Afghanistan. They warned that their protest rally would be continue for an indefinite period of time if their demands were not heeded.

The tribal elders also demanded that the government must ensure their share in the mineral sector and allow complete trade activities without any curfew and restriction. The protesters also met with administration but their demands were not addressed.

The local people said that now they were badly suffered due to deteriorated law and order situation and would not allow the administration to play with their business and peace in the area. They warned that if government failed in their meeting their demands, then the entire population will take the streets in favour of their genuine demands.
