public holiday on February 5

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, 2025, with a public holiday to support the struggle of Kashmiris living in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The government announced a public holiday every year on February 5, when demonstrations and events were held across Pakistan to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir under the shadow of occupying Indian forces.

Special ceremonies and conferences along with rallies were also staged at educational institutions and government offices to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day with national zeal and zest. The day remembers the atrocities committed by Indian troops in IIOJK to curtail the struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination.

The government has not notified yet but the notification issued last year regarding the annual holidays in 2025 confirmed the holiday on February 5. The notification showed the calendar of public and optional holidays for the year 2025.

As per the calendar, the first holiday of the year will be on February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23.

Among the other holidays include Eid al-Fitr, Easter (for minorities), 1st May to observe Labour Day, Eid al-Adha, Ashura on 10th Muharram, Independence Day, Mawlid al-Nabi (Eid Milad-un-Nabi), Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas Day on Decemebr 25 and December 26 for Christian only for Day after Christmas.
