South Waziristan residents criticizes PDMA over poor performance

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN:(Noor Ali Wazir) The residents of Wana Tehsil have termed the performance of PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in south Waziristan as very disappointing and said that the recent monsoon rains wreaked havoc in Lower Tehsil of Wana, but no one has asked to provide relief to the public.

In conversation with Pakhtun Digital the recent monsoon rains in the Lower Wana area of South Waziristan have caused severe flooding and overflowing of rivers and canals, causing severe damage to the local population. The rains have washed away agricultural lands and damaged houses in many places, affecting dozens of families.

According to the people of the area, the floodwaters have destroyed standing crops and have complained that neither the provincial government has taken any notice nor has any relief work been carried out by the PDMA, Provincial Disaster Management Authority. Residents of the area say that this situation arises every year during the monsoon, but the government and related institutions are limited to paperwork.

The residents of the area have demanded that immediate financial assistance be provided to the affected families and that PDMA officials should be deployed in Wana on a permanent basis so that immediate action can be taken in any emergency.

Elected representatives have also been appealed to convey the voice of the people to the higher authorities and take serious steps on this important issue so that such losses can be avoided in the future.
