ANP rejects role in KP Senate alliance, demands focus on peace

ANP Denies Inclusion in Pakhtunkhwa Senate Alliance, Criticizes Leadership for Ignoring Provincial Issues

PESHAWAR :  The Awami National Party (ANP) has clarified that it is not part of any Senate alliance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), dismissing rumors of formal discussions with other opposition parties.

ANP MPA Nisar Baz stated that the party is currently focused on addressing the unrest in tribal districts, particularly after the tragic incident in Bajaur. He emphasized that ANP is organizing jirgas and peace marches to demand justice for Maulana Khanzeb Shaheed and to restore peace in the region.

Baz criticized the provincial leadership, including the Chief Minister, Governor, and Opposition Leader, for prioritizing Senate negotiations over the worsening law and order situation. He questioned why political leaders could unite for Senate elections but failed to collaborate on resolving KP’s pressing issues, such as constitutional rights and resource control.

He alleged that the current Senate alliance only includes the PPP, PML-N, and JUI-F, while PTI remains a separate entity. Baz accused these parties of engaging in political bargaining for personal gains rather than serving the public interest.

“The people of Pakhtunkhwa are protesting daily for peace, yet our leaders are busy in backdoor deals,” Baz said. “If they can unite for power, why not for peace and constitutional rights?”

He further raised concerns about whether these alliances were formed voluntarily or under pressure from powerful forces.
