ATC acquits Shah Mehmood Qureshi, sentences Yasmin Rashid to 10 years in Jail

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore on Tuesday acquitted the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf senior vice president, Shah Mehmood Quraishi, in the May 9 riots cases, while Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry and Mehmood ur Rashid were sentenced to 10 years in jail.

According to a news report aired on ARY NEWS on Tuesday night, the Lahore ATC has acquitted the PTI leader Shah Mehmood Quraishi and awarded 10 years imprisonment to Ijaz Chaudhry, Mehmood Ur Rashid and Yasim Rashid, Umar Sarfaraz,  in the May 9 riots case of Sherpaw bridge.

The court also acquitted five other PTI leaders in the case, while sentencing Ali Hassan, Afzal Azeem, Khalid Qayum, and Riaz Hussain.

A local court in Shangla acquitted Bisham Tehsil Chairman Sadeed Ur Rehman and provincial assembly candidate Sadar Rehman on Tuesday in connection with the violence that occurred on February 9, which resulted in the deaths of two youths allegedly due to police firing.

After detailed hearings and the presentation of testimonies and other evidence, the District Sessions Judge of Shangla, Mamrez Khan Khalil, ordered the acquittal of all eight individuals charged in the case, including Sadeed Ur Rehman and Sadar Rehman.
