PESCO Peshawar rejects new load schedule amid security fears

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has informed its officials that, according to the new AT&C policy, there has been an increase in electricity load shedding. This situation is likely to worsen the law and order conditions. Consequently, PESCO’s Peshawar Division believes that implementing a new load management schedule is not suitable under the current circumstances.

In a letter obtained by Pakhtun Digital, the PESCO Peshawar Circle informed its officials that the recent changes in the AT&C policy have resulted in longer electricity load shedding. This is likely to disrupt peace and order in the area. As a result, the PESCO Peshawar Division believes it is inappropriate to implement the new load management schedule under the current circumstances, and has requested that the previous load management schedule be maintained for the time being.

The letter, sent to the Chief Executive Officer of PESCO, highlights that the increase in load shedding across feeders is causing significant anxiety among the public. Additionally, strong objections have been raised by assembly members and the district administration. Although efforts are being made to balance the load across feeders to ensure a stable power supply during the ongoing heat wave, it is currently difficult to accurately determine the actual AT&C rate for these feeders.

Following consultations with all Executive Engineers (XENs) and sub-divisional officers, it has been concluded that implementing a new load management schedule at this time is not advisable. Therefore, it is suggested that, in the best interest of PESCO, the old schedule should be retained to maintain public satisfaction and system balance.
