CJP considers introducing two-shift system for court hearings

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has announced that the possibility of conducting judicial proceedings in two shifts is being considered to ensure that cases are resolved within the designated timeframe.

While addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Chief Justice Afridi emphasised his commitment to supporting independent, impartial, and honest judicial officers. He mentioned that he has visited remote areas of the country and is taking steps to improve the judicial system nationwide.

To strengthen the judiciary, he stated that young lawyers who possess professional skills and are free from political affiliations will be encouraged to join the judicial system. Additionally, he highlighted ongoing efforts to establish model criminal trial courts and mentioned that judicial officers are receiving specialised training for this purpose.

Chief Justice Afridi expressed his aspiration for affected litigants to approach the courts with confidence, believing they will receive justice based on the expertise of top legal professionals. He also discussed the consideration of using artificial intelligence in judicial matters, affirming that all possible measures are being taken to modernise the judiciary.
