Pilgrims banned from Arbaeen travel via Balochistan: Mohsin Naqvi

Naqvi praises KP Police for thwarting khawarij attacks

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a ban on Arbaeen pilgrimage travel to Iran and Iraq via the Balochistan land route this year, citing security concerns.

In a post on social media platform X, Naqvi stated that the decision was made after thorough consultations with the Foreign Office and the Balochistan government. He acknowledged the move as difficult but essential for ensuring public safety and national security.

While overland travel through Balochistan is restricted, Naqvi clarified that pilgrims can still travel by air. He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to arrange additional flights to accommodate Arbaeen pilgrims.

Arbaeen is one of the world’s largest religious events, drawing millions of devotees, many of whom traditionally journey overland from Pakistan to Iran and Iraq through Balochistan.
