Overseas Pakistanis play a vital role in keeping the economy stabilised: Amir Muqam

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam, said on Wednesday that overseas Pakistanis have been playing a pivotal role in the country’s prosperity and economic growth through remittances.

The Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam was addressing an event at the Pakistani High Commission in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Wednesday.

The event was attended by the Pakistani business community, while the Pakistan’s high commissioner to Malaysia, Sayed Ahsan Raza Shah was present on the occasion.

Mr Muqam said that there had been a significant rise in foreign remittances recently, reflecting the crucial contributions that overseas Pakistanis make to the country’s economy and progress.
The federal minister, who is also president of the PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, also shed light on the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, particularly the Malaysian Prime Minister, Doctor Anwar Ibrahim for his brotherly relations with Pakistan.
He also appreciated the overseas Pakistani business community for their unwavering support by sending remittances to their home country, which indeed helps the country’s economic growth.

“I must talk about the Kashmir issue. Under the leadership of PM Shehbaz Sharif, the current government highlighted the Kashmir issue on all platforms, including at the United Nations General Assembly,” Amir Muqam said.

He said Pakistan would continue its struggles and stand by the Kashmiri brethren until they achieve independence and the right to self-determination under the resolution of the United Nations.
