PTI announces preliminary plans for proposed August 05 protest

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced that the proposed August 05 protest would be held under the banner of Tahafuz-Ayen-Pakistan, led by Senior Politician Mahmood Khan Achakzi.

Speaking to the media after chairing a meeting of the PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership in Islamabad, Junaid Akbar said that the consultation process for the August 05 protest is underway. PTI’s central leader Junaid Akbar has revealed that the protest campaign will be organized under the banner of “Tahafuz Ayen Pakistan’ Protecting the Constitution of Pakistan, which will be led by senior politician Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Junaid Akbar clarified that the final decision on the scope of the protest—i.e., whether it will be nationwide or symbolic—will be taken at the All Party Conference, which will be held after the meeting on July 31.

“Some colleagues are in favor of full-scale protests across the country, while a few leaders are giving their opinion for symbolic protests. Whatever decision the central leadership takes, the provincial leadership will implement it,” he remarked.

According to the PTI, the next major step regarding the protests will be an all-party conference in which the locations, nature, and procedure of the protests will be finalized.

According to sources, the protest aims to raise a peaceful voice against the supremacy of the constitution, the restoration of fundamental rights, and stopping the of political arrests.
