NOWSHERA: To promote afforestation and counter climate-related challenges, the district administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with local youth volunteers, launched a mega monsoon tree plantation campaign in the district of Nowshera,
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ijaz Khalid, office bearers of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, and volunteers of the Nowshera Youth Volunteers Corps participated in this campaign. Hundreds of saplings were planted during the campaign to make the Nowshera district green and lush.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ijaz Khalid said that in the wake of global challenges like global warming and climate change, they should expedite their efforts for afforestation of the non-agriculture zones like mountains and rough terrain to bring a green revolution as a means of dealing with climate change and providing a better environment for future generations.
He said that Nowshera is a district affected by natural disasters, and these losses can be reduced through tree plantation. He warned that whoever damages the forests and plantations, action will be taken against them according to the law.
The volunteers fully participated in the Monsoon plantation campaign and vowed to boost forest forest-covered areas of the district in the upcoming spring season. At the end of the campaign, the youth also participated in an awareness walk to promote environmentally friendly attitudes among the public.
It may be mentioned here that the growing deforestation in the northern areas has significantly increased the temperature in Kalam and Upper Dir areas, which are causing natural disasters like urban flooding and an increase in temperature.
The government and the International community encourage the efforts for a clean and green Pakistan, as Pakistan has been badly affected due to heavy carbon emissions at the global level.
