ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have obtained arrest warrants for 41 PTI leaders from the Anti-Terrorism Court in the light of cases registered against them in Karachi Company Station.

The arrest warrants issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court include the names of several important and central leaders of the party, including former President Arif Alvi, Nadia Khattak, Senator Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Raja Basharat, Rashid Hafeez, Khadija Shah, Alia Hamza, Umair Niazi, Jamshed Dasti, Hammad Azhar, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Shoaib Shaheen.

According to sources, the court issued these warrants in light of a case registered at Karachi Company Police Station, which is being linked to the violent incidents of May 9, 2023. In this case, several PTI leaders are facing charges of incitement, damage to government property and disruption of peace and order.

Initially, arrest warrants had already been issued for nine leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, however, after the latest developments, this number has increased to 50. Police officials say that after obtaining the warrants, steps are being taken to make arrests, and raids will be conducted at various locations to search for the wanted leaders.

In political circles, this move is being termed as a major step in the ongoing legal proceedings against the PTI leadership, while party sources say that all these actions are part of a political victimisation.
