SARGODHA: Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha declared 51 persons, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Ahmed Khan Bhachar and Rana Bilal Ijaz, as proclaimed offenders in the May 09 violence cases.

The Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha has announced the verdict in the May 09 violence attack case of the City Mianwali police station. The court sentenced the accused person, Muhammad Ismail, arrested in case number 349/23, to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for attacking Rangers personnel.

The court declared 51 accused, including former opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Rana Bilal Ijaz and Ahmed Khan Chatta, as proclaimed offenders and directed the Mianwali police to arrest all proclaimed offenders and present them in court within a month. The DPO Mianwali has been handed over the responsibility of taking action in this regard.

On the other hand, the court also rejected the request of Hashim Abbasi, the accused named in the case of crushing Rangers personnel, to stay the trial. The verdict was delivered by the Special Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha in the Mianwali District Judicial Complex attack case, which was registered after the violent incidents of May 09.

It is important to mention here that several PTI leaders have challenged the verdict of the anti-terrorism court and termed the sentence one-sided based on political victimisation with no evidence. Members of the National Assembly, Chitral Abdul Latif have also challenged his sentence and appealed in the Peshawar High Court to stop his disqualification.
