PESHAWAR: The nation observed the third anniversary of the Pakistan Army helicopter crash in the Lasbela area of Balochistan, in which six army veterans were martyred.

The history of the Pakistan army is full of countless examples of sacrifice, service and loyalty. Be it on the battlefield or in the wake of natural disasters, the Pakistan Army has always stood by the people. Even during the devastating floods of 2022, the army carried out relief activities in a full-fledged manner.

On August 1, 2022, Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali Shaheed personally visited the flood-affected areas of Balochistan to review the relief operations and further improve them. He was leading this rescue mission himself.

Due to bad weather, a Pakistan Army helicopter crashed in Lasbela, in which Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali, Brigadier Amjad Hanif, Brigadier Muhammad Khalid, pilot Major Saeed Ahmed, Major Muhammad Talha and Naik Mudassar Fayyaz were martyred. Brigadier Amjad Hanif (martyr) had been promoted to the rank of Major General before the accident.

This tragedy was shocking for the entire nation, as every eye was filled with tears, and the entire country was in mourning for several days. Lieutenant General Sarfaraz Ali was a very professional and dutiful officer who was promoted to the rank of three-star general in November 2020 and was appointed Corps Commander Quetta in December 2020.

The Pakistan Army has once again proven that it stands firm in every difficult moment of the nation and does not hesitate to make any sacrifice to serve the people. Today, the sacrifice of these great sons reminds us that giving one’s life for the protection and service of the homeland is real pride, and the nation will never forget these martyrs.
