ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said that the Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army are truly brotherly forces of each other and their partnership is firm to play a key role in ensuring stability in the region and safeguarding common strategic interests.
He said this while addressing a grand ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi to mark the 98th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zedong as the chief guest.
The ceremony was attended by officers of the Chinese Embassy and senior officials of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated the PLA on its founding anniversary and termed Pakistan-China defence relations as having stood the test of time.
The Field Marshal said that despite the changing global strategy, the friendship between Pakistan and China has stood firm and unwavering. Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, in his address, praised the role of the Pakistani military in combating terrorism and said that China would further strengthen the strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.
The ceremony paid tribute to the joint role of the two militaries in promoting Pak-China friendship, defence cooperation, and regional stability. Pakistan is also marking the 3rd anniversary of their martyrs today, as three years have passed, the Pak army helicopter crashed in Lasbela.
