PESHAWAR: Afghan freight vehicle drivers have been banned from entering Pakistan without a visa. A notification has also been issued in this regard, which has come into effect at all trade crossings of the country from today.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce Department, Afghan freight vehicles will be allowed to travel in Pakistan under a temporary entry document until August 31, 2025, after which the period of this permission will expire.
This ban has been imposed after the Ministry of Commerce had given a deadline of one year to Afghan drivers to obtain visas to facilitate cross-border trade activities. However, now after the expiry of this period, a complete ban on Afghan drivers entering Pakistan without a visa has been implemented.
This decision is being considered important in terms of management and security at trade crossings between the two countries.
Trade between two Muslims brothers countries already suffurred due prolong closure of various checkpoints and now banning Afghan driver on temporary documents would further delay the process and would decline each other exports sector.
