PESHAWAR: Approximately 42 families of police officers who were martyred in terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have yet to receive the “Police Shuhada Package,” which provides compensation of Rs 10 million for each family. According to statistics obtained from the Central Police Office in Peshawar on the families of these 42 police officials, who lost their lives while serving from early 2024 until January 2025, are still awaiting this compensation.

The data from the KP police indicates that a total of 2,202 police personnel have died in the line of duty in the province, and of those, 2,160 families have received compensation packages.

This data shows that out of the 2,202 martyred police officers, 42 families are still waiting for their packages. However, the KP police have stated that the cases for these families have already been forwarded to the Home and Tribal Affairs Department and the Finance Department for approval.

“I have been visiting the police headquarters for the past a year to inquire about my martyred father’s Shuhada Package, but I have yet to receive it,” said Samad Yar, the son of one of the martyred officers, in an interview with Pakhtoon Digital. He expressed his frustration over the delay while submitting his application to top police officials.

However, the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hamid, stated that he is working diligently to expedite the approval of the compensation packages.

He acknowledged the delays in the approval process, attributing them to the government’s financial cycle, but assured that the compensation would be delivered to the affected families very soon.
