PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Board of Education has released the results of this year’s matriculation (9th and 10th grade) exams, revealing an 83.5% overall pass rate. A total of 91,689 students appeared in the 10th-grade exams, with 76,484 passing and 14,530 failing.
In the 9th-grade exams, 101,888 students participated, out of which 61,753 passed, while 38,907 failed, resulting in a 98.7% success rate for those who completed the exams.
Among regular students, 62,466 candidates took the exams, with 35,872 passing and 587 absent. Female students performed exceptionally well, with 33,847 regular female candidates appearing and 24,715 passing, achieving a 99.2% pass rate.
For private candidates, 4,405 students appeared, with only 812 passing and 293 absent. Private female candidates saw 1,170 examinees, with 354 passing and 61 absent.
This year’s results highlight a concerning trend, as over 14,000 students failed, raising questions about education quality and student preparedness. Authorities may need to review policies to improve future outcomes.
