Iranian President Pezeshkian concludes two-day visit to Pakistan

Prime minister meets Iranian president on sidelines of 17th ECO summit in Khankendi

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian concluded his two-day official visit to Pakistan on Sunday and departed for Tehran from Nur Khan Airbase. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar saw him off and presented a commemorative photo album as a token of appreciation for his visit.

On the final day of the trip, President Pezeshkian had a packed agenda in Islamabad. He held a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where both leaders emphasized the need for regional peace and discussed matters related to trade and social cooperation.

The visit also saw the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and the exchange of documents to enhance bilateral collaboration. President Pezeshkian, along with his delegation, later attended the Pakistan-Iran Trade Forum, where he thanked the Pakistani leadership, especially PM Shehbaz Sharif, for the warm hospitality.

His final official engagement was a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The two leaders explored ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors and shared views on regional and global affairs.

The Iranian president began his visit in Lahore, where he paid tribute at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal. Speaking on the occasion, he praised Iqbal’s poetry as a source of inspiration and guidance.
