KP to hand over 1,500 failing schools to private operators

KP outsource 1500 schools and 500 colleges

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP government has decided to outsource 1500 schools and 55 colleges across the province to improve education standards, particularly in underprivileged areas. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Tuesday.

Officials confirmed that 500 schools in the Merged Districts will be included in the outsourcing plan, which aims to enhance learning outcomes and service delivery. A monitoring mechanism led by the Education Monitoring Authority (EMA) will ensure performance benchmarks are met.

Chief Secretary Shah emphasized that education remains a top priority for the government, stating, “This initiative will ensure quality education and better facilities for students.” He directed authorities to complete a detailed survey before finalizing the transition.

A financial model for the outsourcing process is in its final stages and will be implemented soon.
