Trans community protests surge in crimes against them in Mardan
The transgender community staged a protest rally outside the Mardan Press Club in support of their demands, in which hundreds of transgender people participated.

The protesters shouted slogans against the police, beat their chests and demanded immediate justice from the government.
The rally was led by Madam Farzana, President of the Trans Community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Addressing the protest rally, she said that trans people are being oppressed on a daily basis, innocent transgender people are being killed every day, and the police are remaining silent spectators.
She said that we are human beings, not animals, but the treatment we are being given is inhuman and unbearable.
Madam Farzana revealed that in the last 10 years, 215 transgender people have been killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while more than 7,000 people have been tortured.
She said that instead of killing us one by one, we should be killed collectively, because we cannot tolerate any more oppression.
Transgender individuals alleged that they were regularly extorted, and the government had completely failed in this regard.
They said that all the promises made to the transgender community turned out to be just verbal claims; not a single promise was fulfilled in practice.
The protesters warned that if the atrocities did not stop, they would stage a sit-in in front of the provincial assembly and the Chief Minister’s House, and the scope of the protest would be extended to the entire province.
