MARDAN : Police arrested a wanted criminal, Imtiaz Hussain, following an armed encounter in the Tambulak area of Bypass Road. The accused, a resident of Para Chinar (Rawalpindi), was wanted in multiple serious cases across different police stations.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Khaista Rehman raided the location under the directives of District Police Chief Zahoor Babar Afridi. The suspect opened fire at the officers, prompting retaliatory action that left him injured. Police recovered a pistol from his possession and shifted him to a hospital for treatment.
Initial investigations revealed that Imtiaz Hussain was recently involved in a theft case at a local shop, where he stole Rs. 1.4 million in cash and prize bonds worth Rs. 100,550. He was also wanted in several other criminal cases registered in Mardan and Charsadda districts, including theft and illegal weapons possession.
Authorities believe his arrest will help solve multiple pending cases. Further investigations are underway.
