KP welcomes tourists

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s natural beauty and picturesque landscapes have become a center of attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

Last year alone, the province attracted over 26.1 million local and 7,664 foreign visitors to its top travel destinations.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department, a total of 26,108,162 tourists explored the region between January and December 31, 2024.

The highest flow of foreign tourists were recorded in Malam Jabba while local tourists visited Kaghan Naran.

For local tourists, Galiyat remained the most popular destination attracting 9.43 million domestic visitors. Kaghan and Naran followed, welcoming 4.59 million local tourists. Malam Jabba ranked third with 3.51 million domestic tourists and recorded the highest number of foreign visitors at 2,479.

The highest footfall was recorded in Galiyat, with 4.596 million visitors. Hazara, Naran, and Kaghan saw 3.511 million tourists, while Malam Jabba hosted 2.85 million.

Upper Dir welcomed 358,900 tourists, Chitral saw 311,500, and Kalam and Bahrain received 311,800 visitors each.

Tourism remains strong in early 2025. Between January 1 and February 11, 671,000 local and 850 foreign tourists visited the province.

The tourism boom is driving economic growth and creating jobs. The government plans to enhance tourism facilities to attract even more visitors, strengthening the province’s position as a premier travel destination.
