KP bar council boycott Judicial proceeding against torture of Lawyer

‘Official vehicles public assets: Use after duty hours illegal’, Says lawyer   

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council announced a boycott of judicial proceedings against the violence on a lawyer in Swat today.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council in a statement said that Police brutally tortured Advocate Shahid Ali in Matta area of Swat district. The police department took a non-serious attitude towards the incident. Police kept the lawyer in custody in Matta police station for four hours and seriously injured him.

On the instructions of the Peshawar High Court, the District and Sessions Judge formed a committee. KP Bar Council. The committee recommended the immediate suspension and replacement of the concerned SHO and DSP. KP Bar Council.

An impartial investigation was conducted on the petition filed by the lawyers and legal action was recommended against the involved police personnel. KP Bar Council. The recommendations of the committee were not implemented, due to which the boycott was announced today. KP Bar Council.

The statement added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General also refused to meet the lawyers’ delegation. The statement warned that the demands of the lawyers were not accepted, further action will be taken.
