Petition filed to make tests, interviews mandatory for appointment of High Court judges

PHC TEST

PESHAWAR: To stop the political appointment of High Court Judges, Advocate Suleman Khan files a petition requesting the court to make tests and interviews mandatory for the appointment of High Court judges as per the constitution.

The petition has requested to make tests and interviews mandatory for the appointment of High Court judges. The federal government, the President of Pakistan, the Chairman Judicial Commission, the Secretary Senate, the Secretary National Assembly and the provincial government have been made parties in the petition.

At present, appointment of judges is being done on favouritism and political grounds, and this appointment of judges on political grounds has badly affected the judicial system. Judges in High Courts are appointed through a vote, although the Constitution of Pakistan does not permit to appointment of judges through a vote.

No one has understood where the word vote was brought for the appointment of judges; this matter has not been understood yet, the petitioner said. The rules of the Judicial Commission are unconstitutional and contrary to fundamental rights.

Surprisingly, there are tests and interviews for the recruitment of class IV, while there is no rule for the appointment of these judges for the superior judiciary. Making the appointment of judges on political grounds has destroyed the judiciary of country.

The petitioner pleads that there must be a test and interview for the appointment of judges, as it happens for other posts in the country.
