Federal govt declared August 13 as Public holiday in connection with Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: The Federal government has declared a public holiday on August 13 in the federal capital in connection with the Independence Day on August 14.

After this decision, all government and private institutions in Islamabad, except for essential administrative and emergency institutions, will remain closed on both days, which will benefit the citizens from the two-day holiday.

The Islamabad administration has issued a holiday notification on Wednesday, August 13, to provide convenience to the public. The notification exempts the offices of essential services, including MCI, CDA and ICT Administration offices. Apart from this, there will also be no holiday in the police, IESCO, SNGPL and hospitals.

On the other hand, four holidays are expected across the country in the month of August on the occasion of Independence Day. According to the notification of the Cabinet Division, August 14 will be a public holiday for Independence Day across Pakistan.

Additionally, Chehlum Imam Hussain, which falls on Friday, August 15, is not included in the federal holidays, but a local holiday for Chehlum may be declared in the relevant areas at the provincial level. In this case, the holidays from Thursday, August 14 to Sunday, August 17 may be combined.
