KP cabinet approves funds for multiple uplift projects

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has approved a special financial package to help families forced from their homes due to ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Bajaur district.

Under the plan, each displaced family will receive Rs 50,000 immediately. A further Rs 25,000 will be given once the security operations are complete.

The money will be distributed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief). The Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur has been instructed to quickly finalize the registration of affected families to ensure the aid reaches the right people fairly.

The operations, targeting terrorists in Bajaur’s Mamond Tehsil, have caused significant displacement. Over 20,000 families have left areas like Dumadaula, Inam Khoro, Chinagai, and Chohatra so far.

Most displaced families are staying with relatives. The district administration is also providing temporary shelter in government schools and has set up camps in some locations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Saeedullah Jan confirmed the scale of displacement. The provincial government pledged all possible relief and rehabilitation support for the affected families.
