Bajaur admin lifts curfew on key roads, main markets for essentials

Curfew extended to two more KP districts amid spike in terror attacks

BAJAUR: The Bajaur district administration has partially lifted curfew restrictions on the district’s main highways today to allow residents to purchase essential goods.

Officials announced the curfew will be completely lifted for public movement on the vital Munda to Khar Road and the Nawagai to Sadiqabad Road. Consequently, the main markets in Bajaur town, Sadiqabad, Pashat, Nawagai, and Khar Bazar will also reopen.

This temporary relaxation is specifically aimed at enabling local people to buy necessary food items and rations. The decision comes amidst ongoing security operations against militants in the district.

It is important to note that curfews were initially imposed across Bajaur on August 11th due to these operations. While restrictions are eased on the specified highways and markets today, the curfew will remain in effect within the areas where operations are actively continuing until 11:00 am on August 14th.
