22-year-old David Brewis smashes records in South Africa’s T20 win over Australia

South African batsman David Brewis, aged just 22, made history with a blistering century to power his team to a 53-run victory over Australia in the second T20 International on Tuesday.

Sent in to bat first, South Africa posted a strong 218/7 in their 20 overs. Brewis was the star, hammering an unbeaten 125 runs off just 56 balls. He reached his century in a rapid 41 deliveries.

This incredible innings broke two major South African recordsHighest Individual Score: Brewis surpassed Faf du Plessis’ previous record of 119 runs (set vs West Indies in 2015) to become South Africa’s highest scorer in a T20 International. 

 He also became the youngest South African to score a T20I century, beating Richard Levi’s record (set at age 24 vs New Zealand in 2012).  

Australia couldn’t chase down the target, falling 53 runs short as South Africa leveled the series.
