Pakistan erupted in celebration on its 78th Independence Day, marking not just freedom but also the victory in war against India ( Marka E Haq)
Across the nation, from Lahore , Peshawar and Karachi to Quetta and Islamabad, citizens poured onto the streets waving flags and chanting “Pakistan Zindabad.” The day began solemnly with special prayers for the country’s prosperity.
Traditional gun salutes echoed – 31 guns in the federal capital, Islamabad, and 21 guns in provincial capitals – signaling the start of festivities.

Lahore witnessed spectacular celebrations. A massive crowd gathered at Minar-e-Pakistan for a brilliant fireworks display, loudly cheering for Pakistan. Liberty Chowk hosted a grand ceremony featuring a lively musical concert. Strict security ensured safety in the city.
The main national ceremony was held in Islamabad, attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, federal ministers, assembly members, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and other top civil and military leaders. The event reached a thrilling climax when Pakistan Air Force fighter jets roared overhead in salute to the President, prompting the crowd to erupt once more in chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.”
