ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, while congratulating the nation on Independence Day, said that the nation must serve the country beyond any political affiliation.
He August 14 is a reflection of the great struggle and unparalleled sacrifices, which gifted the Muslims of the subcontinent a free and independent country.
In his special message, he said that their elders sacrificed their homes, property and lives to give us a homeland where we have the right to live according to our religion and culture. He stressed that these sacrifices are a beacon of light for future generations and clear proof that a united nation can achieve any goal.
The Chairman Senate further said that Pakistan is the fruit of Allama Iqbal’s dream and the guidance of Quaid-e-Azam, when this country emerged on the world map as an independent state on August 14, 1947. He urged the nation to value freedom on the occasion of Independence Day and said that freedom is a priceless blessing whose protection, survival and stability is the responsibility of every Pakistani.
Yousaf Raza Gilani appealed to all parliamentarians to rise above party differences and play their role sincerely for the development and prosperity of the country.
He hoped that the country under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari will be more developed and prosperous and would overcome all challenges of Defence and economic prosperity.
