SHANGLA: Including women, children, 23 people were killed and 8 others were injured in rain-triggered floods, landslides across Shangla district on Friday morning.
Deputy commissioner, Shangla, Fawad Khan, said in a statement that 23 dead bodies had been recovered from the different areas of tehsil Alpuri, tehsil Puran, tehsil Chakesar and other areas on Friday during the search after heavy floods hit the area.
He said seven houses, 1 mosque, 1 school, 3 suspension bridges, seven link and major roads were damaged due to the intensity of the floods.
He said the revenue staff had been sent to the field, and further data on casualties, losses was being collected, and the rescue operation also continued.
DC Shangla said that relief work was also launched in the areas affected by the floods, landslides, and families were being evacuated to safer places.

Under the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), relief funds have been allocated for the districts affected by rains and flash floods in the province.
According to a statement from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), a total of Rs 500 million has been set aside to expedite immediate relief operations in the impacted areas. Buner district has received Rs 150 million, while Bajaur, Battagram, and Mansehra districts have each been allocated Rs 100 million. The Swat district has been given Rs 50 million. This funding aims to provide immediate assistance to the victims and compensate for their losses.
The Chief Minister has instructed all relevant institutions to ensure that relief efforts are both effective and prompt, so that assistance can reach the victims as quickly as possible. PDMA relief teams and district administrations are maintaining full communication with each other, continuously monitoring the situation to respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies. Additionally, PDMA’s Emergency Operations Centre is fully operational, providing services through the toll-free helpline number 1700 to inform the public about weather conditions and emergencies.
