PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has appointed Dr. Shahid Younis, a Grade 20 officer of the Management Cadre in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, to the vacant post of Director General Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dr. Shahid Younis was previously appointed as Additional Director General of Health Services, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government started recruitment process for the long-vacant management cadre posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the schedule issued by the Public Service Commission, appointments will be made on 248 management cadre seats, for which 1167 candidates from across the province have applied. Roll number slips have also been issued to the candidates. According to the health department, these appointments will remove the administrative gap and the series of administrative appointments of the general cadre will also end. This is the first time that such a large recruitment is being made in the health department at once. According to the information released by the health department, more than ten thousand medical staff are being recruited in the districts and MTIs, including management cadre, specialists, medical officers, paramedical staff and other posts. Officials say that this process will help fill the staff shortage and make health centers self-sufficient. Along with this, for the first time in history, local doctors are being recruited on contract for remote hospitals.
