More than 150 rescue units deployed as KP battles deadly floods

PESHAWAR: Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have mobilised 176 rescue units and set up 60 emergency points along riverbanks as monsoon-triggered floods continue to devastate the province.

According to DG Rescue Tayyab Abdullah, more than 1,800 personnel and 264 divers are actively engaged in flood response operations.

The disaster has so far claimed 330 lives across KP, with Buner district worst-hit, recording 213 deaths and the majority of the 156 reported injuries. Officials said over 156 houses were damaged and 62 completely destroyed in the district.

Rescue teams have successfully evacuated more than 510 people trapped by rising waters, while relief aid has been dispatched to flood-affected districts. Buner alone has received Rs500 million in financial assistance so far.
