Over 2,000 workers evacuated in Kohat as indus flood risk grows
Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah has carried out an emergency visit to the different sites along the River Indus today to thoroughly review the flood situation.

During the visit, the Commissioner ordered the immediate evacuation of more than 2,000 workers employed at a gold mining company near the riverbanks, directing the authorities to immediately shift them to safer locations.
Accompanied by the Officers of the district administration, Irrigation and Mines & Minerals Departments, and Rescue 1122, the Commissioner directed all the concerned departments to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of the river and enforce urgent safety measures.
“Human life is precious, workers are the real asset of our nation, and their safety is our utmost priority,” Mr. Shah said. He added that illegal mining activities would not be allowed, and any operation posing a risk to human lives would immediately be stopped. He further directed the authorities concerned to keep close coordination with the company officials and ensure strict vigilance so that a timely response could be taken in case of any emergency. The timely action by Commissioner Kohat is highly appreciated in the public circle.
