Pakistani Yasir Sultan set for Asian throwing championship 2025

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s javelin thrower Yasir Sultan will represent the country at the Asian Throwing Championship 2025, scheduled to take place in South Korea from August 21 to 22. He will be the sole participant from Pakistan and will compete in the javelin throw event under the guidance of national coach Fayyaz Bukhari.

Yasir has already proven his potential at the continental level, having secured a silver medal in the same championship last year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s star athlete and Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem will not feature in the tournament as he continues his rehabilitation following calf muscle surgery in Cambridge last month. Though his recovery is progressing well, doctors have advised against an early return, ruling him out of the upcoming Diamond League events in Poland and Switzerland as well.

Arshad, who made history with a record-breaking 92.97m throw at the Paris Olympics to clinch gold, further cemented his dominance by winning the Asian Athletics Championship last month with a throw of 86.40m. Over his career, he has collected four gold, one silver, and four bronze medals at major international competitions, including the Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and others.
