PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur held an important meeting to assess the relief activities in flood-affected areas of Buner, Shangla and Bajaur.
Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Relief, DG Rescue 1122 and DG PDMA participated in the meeting, the Chief Minister’s spokesperson said. Relief activities and relief measures in flood-affected districts were reviewed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister visited Buner and Swat, personally reviewed the situation in the affected areas, Chief Minister met with the victims during the visits and listened to their problems.
In light of observations from Buner and Swat, the next strategy will be prepared in the meeting, the Chief Minister’s spokesperson said. Chief Minister stressed, further intensification of rescue and relief operations and urged the participants to ensure the provision of food, medicines and other facilities to the affected people. The Chief Minister has directed to provide all possible relief be provided to the affected people.
Meanwhile Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah Khan, has urged for immediate and practical measures for the flood victims of Shangla.
He demanded provincial government and the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provide maximum relief to the affected families on an urgent basis.
Dr. Ibadullah Khan said that the flood-affected families are in deep distress, and urgent measures are indispensable to provide food, shelter and necessities. He added that addressing the suffering of the people is the primary responsibility of the government, and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
