SWAT: (August 18) Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam met with Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) Shehryar Sultan and NHA General Manager Syed Nawaz and urged them to get the flood-hit areas’ roads clear for traffic on priority.
The meeting addressed urgent measures for the immediate restoration of roads, suspension bridges, and infrastructure damaged by the recent devastating floods and torrential rains across the province, particularly in the Malakand Division.
The discussion focused on the swift restoration of damaged infrastructure necessary for reconnecting affected communities and revitalising economic activities in those areas. NHA officials provided the Federal Minister with updates on ongoing restoration efforts, the challenges encountered on the ground, and proposed strategies for expedited recovery.
Engineer Amir Muqam emphasised that the federal government, under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is proactively engaged in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts in all flood-affected areas.

He instructed NHA officials to prioritise the immediate restoration of roads and bridges to facilitate public access and the delivery of relief supplies, utilising all available resources. NHA Swat Director Gohar Ali and Deputy Director Anwar Usman were also in attendance, where they reported on the latest activities of local teams working in the affected areas.
