The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken an innovative step to provide timely relief and transparent compensation to the people of the areas affected by the recent floods and torrential rains by introducing a special app called “Digital Disaster Compensation Management”. The app was officially inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
“Providing timely relief and facilities to the affected people is the priority of the provincial government. Transparent and immediate payments are being made possible through the digital payment system.”
The app has been developed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board on an emergency basis and has been linked to the provincial government’s service delivery app “Dastak”. Through it, affected citizens will be able to upload details of their property losses and file a compensation claim.
All payments will be directly transferred online to the bank accounts of the affected people. The App’s salient features include geo-tagging and automated verification to prevent misinformation or fake claims. Live dashboard for the CM, Chief Secretary and other officials. Complete transparency and a monitoring system. A reliable way to pay immediate compensation to the affected.
Heavy rains and cloudbursts starting from August 15 have caused severe loss of life and property in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—especially Buner, Swat and Bajaur.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, relief funds of Rs. 500 million have been immediately released for the affected districts. Rs. 150 million for Buner, Rs. 100 million for Bajaur, Battagram, Mansehra, Rs. 100 million for Swat, and Rs. 50 million for Swat. These funds are being used for rehabilitation, relief, and financial assistance to the affected families.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, while paying tribute to the institutions participating in the development of the app, said that this initiative is a practical proof of the digital governance vision of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
